How do I recharge my prepaid electricity sub-meter?
You will receive a credit token with a 20 digit number. Simply enter the number on your meter keypad and press the red button to recharge.
Where can I purchase prepaid electricity tokens?
Recharger prepaid electricity tokens can be purchased countrywide from numerous retail outlets like Checkers, Spar, Dischem, Shoprite or Boxer stores.
You can also get tokens at banks and petrol stations like FNB, Absa, Nedbank, Standard Bank, Shell, Sasol, Caltex, Engen, and BP.
Or you can buy tokens online from the Recharger Pay Portal or PayCity, as well as from mobile vendors using Flash and Kazang.
Can I use Recharger prepaid sub-meter to replace my Eskom electricity account?
No, Recharger prepaid meters provides prepaid vending and collection services to owners and managers of buildings and sectional title properties. The municipality only collects meter readings from the bulk meter. Landlords and agents have to manage collection from individual tenants or unit owners. Recharger Prepaid provides a collection service that is safe, easy and convenient.
How do I register my Recharger sub-meter(s)?
It is easy to register your Recharger pre-paid sub-meter(s). The registration forms are included with each meter and you can use one form for multiple meters. Once completed, take a clear photo and send the completed registration form back to Recharger via WhatsApp, Fax or E-mail.
How does the Recharger Lifetime Warranty* work?
Recharger offers a Lifetime Warranty* on selected prepaid electricity sub-meters. The warranty is only valid if the registration form is correctly completed, and on presentation of proof of purchase - original invoice, sales slip indicating date of purchase, dealers name, model, serial number and a certificate of compliance for the installation of the prepaid sub-meter. *Terms and Conditions apply.

What is STS?
STS stands for Standard Transfer Specification. This standard provides compatibility between certified STS compliant electricity dispensers and vending systems in the electricity dispensing industry to the benefit of the customer, distributor and agent.
The standard was an initiative by Eskom in 1993 to address social, political and economic needsin South Africa after the introduction of prepayment metering in 1989. The STS Association acts as the custodian of the STS and ensures the integrity of the open systems standard, as well as the quality of the supporting infrastructure, facilitates and services.
How long does it take to fit and activate a Recharger prepaid sub-meter?
A qualified electrician will fit the meter within a day. Once the registration form is completed and sent to Recharger with the documents required, it will be processed and you will receive an SMS to notify you that your meter is activated.
Do prepaid electricity tokens expire?
Recharger Pre-paid vouchers are valid for a period of 12 months from the date of purchase.
